The Artist...in the studio
D. Holiway was born in Columbia, South Carolina. He began his passion for art and the outdoors at an early age. South Carolina's woods, swamps and rivers helped shape D. as a Sportsman, as well as, an Artist. After a day out in the woods or on the rivers he would find himself depicting the beauty of the outdoors into drawings and paintings. These two passions began to grow and strengthen with age. D. is primarily self taught which has enabled him to have the freedom to find his own unique style and be true to his own vision.
D.'s career has moved him into some beautiful locations. He grew up in the Piedmont of South Carolina fishing for striped bass, bird hunting and learning all about whitetails. As an adult, he moved to the coastal region. Here he developed a passion for inshore and offshore fishing. Next was Key West, Florida where he learned the likes of bonefish, tarpon and permit. He migrated West to Cody, Wyoming and learned the fine art of "matching the hatch" and where he fell in love with big game animals. He then relocated to Anchorage, Alaska where he had the adventures of a lifetime. He has since set-up a home and studio in Livingston, Montana where he and his wife, Gia, live with Echaw, their german wirehaired pointer. This allows him to draw inspiration from the lifestyle that he leads-that of a sportsman.
When looking for D. you will often find him "on location" immersed in his surroundings, never far from his subject matter. D.'s artwork hangs in sportsmans' collections nationally and internationally.
